AW Note: This appears to be the same article as before only updated to reflect the settlement, which, as some at this site some speculated, turned out to really be nothing: On Friday, the Securities and Exchange Commission reportedly came to a settlement with Microsoft under which the software powerhouse will acknowledge the accounting no-nos it has committed, stop misbehaving, and promise to play nice in the future. | ||

Normally, CNN is just a liberal sensationalistic tabliod news service, but they've never really stirred the pot in the Technology arena (either for or against MS). Sure, they tow the "OSS is better by default" and "Linux underdog is better than that evil mega-corp MS", but they don't make it a personal jihad like CNET/ZDNet do.
However, on this one occasion, I'll give CNN a break. The press sees the spectre of Enron in this case, so they are hyping it to the mainstream viewers/listeners/readers as an Enron-type scare. Nothing more, nothing less. Since we're all technology people, we only see these things through technology-eyed filters, but I think it's not the case this time. |
