So far there have been 175 hotfixes for Windows XP and that doesn't include any integrated software that came with XP, for example Messenger. To view a list of all the hotfixes then click on the headline. | ||

My goodness :)
Nice list. Thanks. However, in a lot of cases Microsoft is using their old "You must contact support to obtain the patch" nonsense. It is infuriating the way they keep patches for KNOWN issues away from you, and force you into a support call. Luckily, a little searching on the net can usually find them for you. TL |

They do this initially because they want to get more information on the problem, and verify that the solution fixed it for you, or didn't cause additional problems.
After the patch has been out for a while and been deployed without issues, they make them available without issue. |

#4, the passwords are routinely changed (an automated process re-builds the archives every few days), so unless you downloaded immediately after getting the email, it would be likely that you would have to call to get the current password.
For anyone who has never done this, these support calls are free of charge. |

AWJulien - Did the patches require French versions? Weird... I don't know why that would be, and if we can get them in the US can't you access the same sites from France?

Why would anyone wants all 170 hotfixes anyway? hotfixes are only if you are experiencing the EXACT problem. People go to windows update and download all the updates even if they dont apply as it is, and get hosed.
Asking questions like "why doesnt ms give out hotfixes" is as smart as asking "why doesnt ms support power toys" or "why doesnt ms support beta products". The hotfixes are only for specific problems, which will later end up on a public service pack. Besides, any security related hotfix, or hotfix that affects a lot of people is posted on windows update. So why the bitching? ;) -gosh |
