Firefox 4 doubles IE9's 24-hour download tally | |

Firefox may be under fire from Microsoft's newly competitive browser, but with more than twice the downloads in its first day, Firefox 4 today soared over its rival by one measurement. Microsoft, not without reason, boasted that IE9 was downloaded 2.35 million times in the first 24 hours after its release last week. And that is indeed a big number, especially for a browser that tech enthusiasts had scoffed at for years | ||

| There could be other reasons for this. IE9 hasn't been pushed out via Windows Update [this will happen in April]. If I'm not mistake, Firefox will automatically check for a new update on its own. Of course when given the OK [for internal projects], IE9 will be deployed to many large companies. I could of just downloaded one IE9 copy and deployed it to 500 systems. That is 1 download but 500 users. Last I checked, Firefox can't be deployed as easily to 500 users. THere is also the fact that with a new IE comes enough changes. Firefox probably hasn't made huge changes to the browser and a lot of the downloaders tend to be more technical than the typical IE user. |
