Is Apple's splashy new iPad 2 a threat to game systems like the 3DS, NGP, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3? Is Apple positioning itself to grab huge swathes of gamers away from Microsoft, Nintendo, and Sony?

No time for that now. I'm too busy trying to decide if the iPad2 is a Scientology-NASA-Lucky Charms killer, or a Volkswagen-Budweiser-Mensa killer instead. Or maybe I'll just fall back to my old chestnut about how articles with questions in the title invariably lead to the answer 'no'.

Unfortunately, MS is late to the game....again. The horse is out of the barn and Elvis has left the building. Let's not discuss Sony's lame attempt at an eReader that no one's buying....

March 4 (Bloomberg) -- Microsoft Corp., the world’s largest software maker, won’t release a competitor to Apple Inc. and Google Inc.’s tablet operating systems until the 2012 back-to- school season, people with knowledge of the plans said.

The Xoom is the closest competition so far, but I gotta see an awful lot of reviews before my mind is changed.
As of right now, I really, really want an iPad 2. Screw the over-priced G3 hardware/service costs though. I'll stick with WiFi. Maybe some day when the Telco's stop believing their data bits are more precious than everyone elses.
