Microsoft Server Chief Axed Over Cloud Strategy? | |

Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer may have dismissed Bob Muglia from his role as head of the company's $15 billion Server and Tools Business unit because he felt Muglia was not the right individual to lead Redmond into the cloud computing age, according to one analyst. "Our key conclusion from the management change is that Ballmer feels that new leadership is needed to navigate Microsoft's evolution to the cloud," said Wells Fargo Securities analyst Jason Maynard, in a research note. | ||

| One of last weeks's stories was about how MS can save themselves by, among other things, stopped the retention problems with key executives. I guess Ballmer didn't get the memo. I think it's long past time that Ballmer left too. |

It seems to me MS has lost its mojo. Its internal message may be clear. But, externally, there are a bunch of us who just can't figure out what MS is doing that will help us do things easier. All I see are more and more product names I don't understand and even more complexity than ever, even for developers. I don't believe that is a winning strategy. First of all, Muglia has done a terrific job through the years. Microsoft's OS and its many many server applications are number one, two, or three in their category depending on which product your are talking about. Muglia helped make that possible.
So far as a poor Muglia meme, don't bother. He has immense wealth with Microsoft making him a millionaire many times over. Muglia has served this corporation for 25 years. It was probably more his decision then Ballmers to "step down." |

| Bob Muglia is staying with MS through the summer. Six months. That is hardly what occurs when someone is "axed". When one is really axed the first thing is to clear out one's desk and security will escort the person to the door to make sure it doesn't hit them in the ass on the way out. |

So, you're saying that if someone has a lot of money then it's OK to humiliate and embarrass them? Strange logic you've got there. It was probably more his decision then Ballmers to "step down." Yeah, sure it was. Although I wish your sentence would come true in that Muglia and then Ballmer step down. Once again, jdbot rushes to defend MS from all slings and arrows, no matter how deserved they are. |
