Windows 7 powered HP Slate 500 is now official: Price and Background | |

HP has confirmed that it will be launching long awaited HP Slate 500. Unlike many recently launched Tablet Computers including Apple iPad and Galaxy Tab, HP Slate 500 is powered by Windows 7 Operating System. HP Slate came to light after Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer showed the device in CES 2010 event. However, the release of Slate was postponed after Apple released its first-generation iPad Tablet. At one point, the delay in HP Slate launch started rumors that the computer maker has killed the product.

At $700 with Windows 7 Professional, and 64-GB SSD, it appears that business is the target market. Time will tell if the price puts people off, or the product does indeed fit into many companies computing stratagies. This post was edited by bobsireno on Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at 13:13. |

Oh Latch (shakes head),
You know as well a I that in this case the choice of OSs is dependent on what software you're running. Those in-house developed business apps for tablet PCs might do well on this hardware. |
