Iolo has just released a new revision 3.6 of its well known set of Windows utilities, called System Mechanic. This free of charge update for registered users brings the several enhancements:
- Ability to toggle intellimenus in System Customizer
- Junk file tool now scans both user and administrator temporary folders under Windows NT and 2000 & scans for Windows 2000 and NT obsolete memory dump files.
Invalid uninstaller tool now has ability to toggle between all items vs. only invalid ones.
- Startup Manager now has ability to manipulate items within the Windows 2000 All-Users StartUp Folder and now automatically saves original startup profile when first used and allows restoration at any time.
- Support for recent url information for latest versions of Realplayer and Mediaplayer in Privacy tool.
- In Privacy tool -- swapped IE cache cleaning procedure with faster and more reliable process.
- Scheduled Registry cleanings now generate undo files
The following issues were fixed:
- In StartUp Manager, Windows 2000 "All User Startup" Items could not be moved from disabled to enabled status, as once enabled, were always being reported as invalid.
- Windows Customizer: "Startup Screen" Unchecked by default in Boot/Shutdown options, even though the Startup screen is enabled by default in Windows 98.
- Junk file tool now ignores all erroneously labeled Paperport and Time and Chaos files by default.
- NetBooster's Relative Speedtest servers were inoperable. These now work again.
Registered users can update their release using the inline update feature. For those of you who want to keep the file or that don't own this state of the art utilities set, we strongly recommend you to download System Mechanic 3.6 now! (1.41MB)
