The fourth Platform Preview of Internet Explorer 9, available now, shows the opportunity of fully hardware-accelerated HTML5. You can run new test drive samples that show modern SVG and native JavaScript integration in action. In March, we promised to deliver platform preview releases approximately every eight weeks. With this installment, you will find more performance and more support for same markup. You’ll also find many fixes to issues reported in previous Platform Previews.

No surprise.
Opera snapshot 10.70.3477 100% on Acid3 test. ;)

I don't think those 5% really matter since it's SVG fonts and SMIL. Both are being pushed aside by other technologies (Web Open Fonts Format and JavaScript). I'm sure Latch will complain :-)
However, HTML5 speed tests are really impressive (http://ie.microsoft.com/testdrive/)
On that first test IE9 scores ~1800 rpm, Opera 10.6 around... 30.

Firefox 4 Beta 2 scores 97 on the ACID3 test. Just saying.

#4 How is Firefox 4 beta 2 doing on those HTML5 tests? Just asking.
Acid3 & Mozilla.. I think they started work on implementing SMIL and SVG fonts and then they stopped. They are basically now taking stance very similar to MS.
(from wikipedia)
"It is unlikely that Firefox will pass the Acid3 test in the near future, since implementing SVG custom font support is a very low priority for Mozilla, as of May 2010."
We'll see I guess.. maybe bad publicity will force them to do it, but it would be stupid to force them to do it just for the sake of passing Acid3.

#3: Nope, no complaints here. I've been dumping on them about web standards for years. Now that their reduced marketshare is forcing them to march in step with everyone else, it's all good. I'm still chuckling to myself that some MS waterboys used to bleat on about how the acid suite doesn't matter to anyone about anything. I'm waiting for them to appear and announce how awesome MS is for supporting this very important framework. In other words, when MS is bad at something, it doesn't matter. When they're good at something, it's the most important thing in the world.
#5: Be careful about kicking sand in another browser's face after the 5 years of neglect and security nightmares that was IE. Just warning.

I am not, I was just kidding --- Firefox is getting hardware accelerated rendering soon, from what I remember, so no big deal. Currently it's just not worth to switch.. so I'll stay with FF, too used to it.

I still don't think Acid3 is important. The only reason IE is passing this now vs. earlier is that the IE team is probably tired of hearing about how poor their browser is from idiots like you who probably have never even written a website. IE has gotten a bad wrap and undeservedly so. IE9 has something for everyone to like. Including a MS haters like it would appear you are.

"IE9 offers consistent, fully hardware-accelerated text, graphics, and media, both audio and video."
IE9 a supercharged resource hog now?

#8: parkkker, is that you?
IE has gotten a bad wrap and undeservedly so.
If IE had better wrapping, it might not be so easy for hackers to find holes.
IE9 has something for everyone to like.
Especially computer criminals.

What kind of wrapping does it have?

Same like iPhone 4?
Perhaps we're not using it properly?
