One Laptop Per Child won't use Microsoft's Windows OS on its upcoming XO-3 tablet, which will run Linux, OLPC's CTO said Thursday.

| The XO-3 tablet has great potential for sales. MS would be wise to co-develop Windows Phone 7 for tablets and work with OLPC to make it happen. While the cost per unit may rise to $100 it could still sell for under $200 making it a very attractive unit for potential billions of consumers around the world, not just millions like the iPad. |

Negroponte doesn't want to actually pay for anything; he never has. He wants corporations, including Microsoft, to give away their products. Or, better yet, have governments force them to do so. It isn't going to happen.
Negroponte ought to speak to Gates, founder of the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation. They flushed down a rat hole over $2 billion dollars on a plan to outfit certain "underpriviledged" aka "I not going to learn and you can't make me" schools with ever conceivable electronic device and the kids still couldn't figure out how to get a high school diploma any better than before the arrival of the electonic door stops. Negroponte thinks like Gates. Just give them the tools and great things will happen. See the paragraph above for how that worked out . . . |
