The product key cards are a ripoff for the Home and Student edition. The Disc version gives you a license for 3 PCs. The product key gives you a license for 1 PC. It can not even be transferred to another PC.
So, you get media and a license for $50/system or no media and a license for $119/system. |

Note, the highest of the above prices will be the one that is quoted endlessly in the tech press. Meanwhile, those that have a Software Assurance license with Microsoft will pay significantly less than the pricing for the Academic version and get the Professional version. In business, no one pays retail.
Also, little known and little touted by Microsoft is the terrific deals that Microsoft gives non-profit corporations on all their products. |

| Let's not forget the "Ultimate Deal" for those with education credentials - Office Ultimate 2007 for $60. You can't beat that. |
