Well I know of one issue with Windows 7 and that's the fact that many people have NForce 2 motherboards from back in the day when they were the going thing. These boards dropped all support after XP which meant Vista would NOT even install on them (Maybe not all but most). I know because I have 4 PC's that have these boards and Vista would simply blue screen upon installation.
When running the Windows 7 compatibility tool to see if it would install it gives you a resounding YES and it actually does the same as Vista it will blue screen and it's tied to the SATA RAID controller on certain NForce 2 Mobo's. I've tried with Vista and Windows 7 on these systems several times without success - even tried non RAID drivers and still no go - same results BSOD's.
I think they need to fix their compatibility tool and truly exclude items that can NOT be upgraded to keep folks from having installation issues, if it would give factual data then I think they could drop 10 to 15 percent of their installation issues, it passes WAY to much that truly should NOT be upgraded or can NOT be upgraded - it should fail more often than it does - this is how they get more folks purchasing it regardless of the problems it causes.
