Microsoft at PDC Nov. 18 shared some new ideas it's bringing to Internet Explorer 9. The company says it plans to make the browser more Web- and developer-friendly, while still maintaining the familiar Internet Explorer identity. That sounds nice, but in the end, Microsoft said very little about what it specifically plans to offer in IE 9. | ||

Pretty ridiculous assertions, some of them. Great monday-morning quarterbacking. First, it's "Don't copy your competitors!" Then it's, "Copy everything that differentiates your competition!" Nonsensical. Open-sourcing IE will automatically somehow making it more secure? I want data to prove that, not just hand-wringing.
The best one is the assertion that IE go multi-platform--just like Apple did with Safari--instead of being Windows-only "since its inception." Where has this guy been??? |

#1. STOP stealing focus from my cursor when I'm trying to type in addresses.
#2. STOP farting around with the address bar while I'm typing stuff in. #3. GIVE me back control over my tool bars. It's MY browser, not Microsofts, once I'm using it. Microsoft's vision of a user interface has sucked eggs lately (i.e. the dreadful Office 2007/2010 ribbon system). #4. END drive-by spyware installs once and for all. For real this time. Just don't talk about it. DO IT! #5. Leave the !%!@#$!$^#%^&^# insertion point the hell alone when I put it somewhere. I put it there for a reason! IE infuriates the hell out of me. I simply cannot stand it. |
