#3 "Companies would switch faster with an April 2011 deadline instead of April 2014"
Companies switch when it makes financial sense, but only if application compatability permits. Running past vendor end-of-life is commonplace. I've done it for WFW, Win98, WinNT, and three or four Linux distros. I'm currently doing it for network equipment and telephone PBXs. If I replaced hardware and software at vendor defined periods my ROA would be significantly reduced and I'd be out doing manual labor to support my family.
