Hmmmmm....reads more like sour grapes. Several years ago, it was said that Linux would take over desktops. It hasn't. The reality is that most of the software that people use is written to either run on Windows or OSX.
As to his statement "The many bugs in the Windows Vista release..." urm...really? I know too many people that will tell you Vista runs just fine. 'course, I noted he makes no mention of Apple's OSX, which is also proprietary. This post was edited by Jedi Master on Thursday, June 11, 2009 at 14:45. |

Other than being one of the stupidest things I've ever read .... Microsoft has "turned lead into gold". 100's of billions of dollars worth of profit. OSS has turned lead into .... lead. |

Yes, and it was said by some full of wishful thinking. Most Linux users don't believe that, nor do they care whether it does or not. As to his statement "The many bugs in the Windows Vista release..." urm...really? I know too many people that will tell you Vista runs just fine. I didn't realize that the two statements were mutually exclusive. Vista SP2 has some 800+ bug fixes. Therefore, there were bugs and many of them. 'course, I noted he makes no mention of Apple's OSX, which is also proprietary. He also didn't mention Solaris or OpenVMS. Perhaps it's because he's an ex-MS guy talking about MS and open source. Apple is neither of those things. |

Yeah, I'd hire this guy. And to think I don't even need his resume. I'll just read his BS book. Then, after he is hired, he can do to my company what he is lamely attempting to do to Microsoft. Yeah, do want a hiring bonus with that offer . . .
Must be that Microsoft restricted stock and stock options have made him so rich that he needn't work in the industry again or by joining the chattering class he thinks he has found a new path to riches. What an idiot. |

WOW. That almost matches the number of Linux bugs fixed in a single 2.6.x release. WOW. That almost matches the number of security holes fixed in OS X in a monthly megapatch! |

I think that the author is pissed off at Microsoft. Another gisgruntled employee. Surprised Apple or Google haven't hired him them. Oh wait. they probably figure that he's a trouble maker or was dropped from MS for other reasons.
As someone said, Linux was suppost to be this OS that would overtake Windows. 10 years later, the combined Linux distro market hasn't done much to do that. That will always be a problem. Too fragmented Seems any Tom, Dick and Harriet can create their own Linux Distro. You can't destroy a multi-billion dollar company overnight unless something is definitely out of the ordinary came around. Microsoft does not have the issues to worry about unlike the AIGs or GMs of the world. |

For those interested, you can watch a presentation by Keith Curtis from Lang.NET.
It was largely promoting his book and the positions taken within it, which mostly fell apart during his presentation when faced with scrutiny from the audience. I don't think there's any ill will. He just bought into a lot of the Free Software doctrine whether or not he fully understands it or it makes any sense. There is a difference between free and non-proprietary.
Free software will never take over. It won't be allowed to happen. Now, I do believe MS must shake it's proprietary fix or it will indeed start running into trouble. |

At the same time, you also have to rein yourself in and stay mainly focused on business related topics. This also depends on your own personality, your niche and the audience you are targeting. Anything that wouldn't be appropriate to say to a client in person or in an email shouldn't be included on a business blog.
