Hunter Stone's .NET Programmer's Free Tool Give-Away Promotion Starts | |

Today, Hunter Stone released Version 1.0 of their long awaited .NET programmers tool, WCE (Web.Config Editor and Composite Viewer). WCE gained notoriety during the recent Microsoft TechEd 2002 convention in New Orleans where over 4,000 free certificates were distributed at the Microsoft Visual Studio .NET booth and the Fault Tolerant Enterprise Products Division of NEC Computers booth. Unfortunately, as sometimes happens in the software industry, only the Release Candidate 1 version of WCE was available during the TechEd convention. I did get a server error once, but that was because I didn't fill in all the fields. |

It's simply a graphical tool to manipulate the web.config for ASP.NET web sites.
The Web.Config contains many common settings, such as tracing, authentication, impersonation, debugging information, etc. I had an early copy of this tool (along with the source), and I wasn't too impressed. The interface was horrible. Alas, it's not much better in its final incarnation. |
