Operating system security is always a hotly contended subject, and last week Microsoft amped up the hype by claiming that Windows Vista and the soon-to-be-released 7 is the world’s most secure OS, beating both Linux and Mac OS X.

Is this guy just looking for hits, or is his memory shot? Did he miss the past several pwn2own contests?
"I’m not sure if I could hand my Mac or Linux systems over to bad guys if I wanted to...."
You may not be sure, but I'm sure. Goodness gracious. This guy knows better. My opinion of his writing just dropped significantly.

I love the dichotomy of reading stories about how much more secure Windows is, and then reading about this month's "own your box" holes.

They're all still "insecure," it's just that Windows is "more secure." If you read what some of the hackers are saying, it's comparatively much more difficult to write an effective exploit even when they find an hole on a Windows machine. Still, it takes just one exploit to compromise a box, and Windows is where the money is.

#3: I would believe that Vista/7 is the most secure version of Windows ever, but most secure OS ever? Gimme a break. Only MS has the cheek to make such an absurd claim.
