The Remote Desktop Client in Windows 7 is equipped with new features and enhancements via Remote Desktop Protocol 7 (RDP). The most interesting enhancement is the support for Desktop Composition, full Aero glass effect.

Nope... this was there in Vista. I see this false information repeated over and over and over... but this is not a new feature. Many of the others are, however.

#2, yep and #3, that has been there, too /span added as a switch e.g., mstsc.exe /span
Grant it, the new method will be more like the same feature set found in multiplicity and or ultramon - either way, multiple monitor support is there.

Aero was enabled for certain editions of Vista but wasn't enabled under Terminal Services. Now Aero is now working with 2008 R2.
One thing I've noticed is that Aero is not working when you connect with a client with multiple monitors and you enable mstsc to use all monitors. When you select only one monitor it works just fine. I don't know if it's something that will be resolved with the final release.

#5--you could enable Aero through terminal services in Vista with the correct RDP client settings (as long as the client was capable of rendering Aero). Many commented when Vista was released about how Aero could be used with Vista VMs, even though the VM's graphics support is very limited. The method was to use RDP into the VM.

I've tried it also on my end and came up with the same conclusion. Aero doesn't work when you connect to Terminal Services running on Windows Server 2008 even when the client is Aero capable. When connecting to 2008 R2 Remote Desktop Service, it works just fine now.
If you connect from Vista to a Vista, it works.

I guess we're debating nothing, then. :P It works on Vista (all the versions that can be Remote Desktop/TS hosts), and it's not new to Win7. I hadn't really mentioned Server 2008, but I do recall reading something about that when it was released as well (that Aero was not available over TS)....
