Windows 7 to officially support logon UI background customization | |

As you probably know, Windows 7 build 7057, a build recently leaked to the public, sports a new (yet ugly) login UI background. Delivering on the “more customizable” promise, Windows 7 now supports the ability to load images into the background of the login screen without the use of third-party software or manual hacks. | ||

OEM's big and small want this. It is a way to canvas log ons with information and OEM focused advertising. For us, we'll be adding a reminder about our free remote help system - something like: Remember, if you need help, or just want to learn, call ### and go to <remote help address>.
This is especially helpful on systems going into small businesses. It is an opportunity to reinforce the availability of assistance and information in our case - only one of many potential uses. We'll spend a lot of time and no small amount of money developing and testing this. |

Am I missing something? Tweakui gave us the ability to copy background screen to logon screen.. how much harder is it to load a different image?

OK I found the info elsewhere.
1. I guess Vista did away with the feature I'm talking about so, I'm slightly off base. 2. 256kb limit will make any text converted to image very interesting... Make it short and sweet 3. creating a jpg image, setting a registry entry is pretty trivial. If you would like to hire me for a consulting job, I'll take a check now. |

| #4, you're welcome to earn it, Denver <the budget>. Yes, we'll test it opposite a lot of users and in some cases, develop custom screens for specific customers. You'd be amazed at how much it can help. |
