Microsoft has restructured its Zune digital music player business which has struggled to find its groove since the device debuted nearly three year ago. The company has split the hardware and the software teams behind the Zune and says it will work to extend some features of the Zune player to other hardware devices such as PCs, TVs and mobile phones. | ||

| #2, Silverlight is optional on WU. FLASH was also distributed and even patched by Microsoft on Windows Update, which remains open and available to all. In fact, when Adobe stumbled badly over a patch a few years back, MS patched it for them and distributed it via WU. |

| Got to say though that through experience with most consumers who run Windows update - when they see an update on there, they install it no matter what it is as it is on Windows Update. Still - similar to what Apple did with Safari, though not quite as bad this time! They will just start to bundle it with the OS next anyway! |

Why shouldn't they distribute SL via Win Update? It's not like you can't have both SL and Flash installed and it's not like you don't have Flash already.
Do we really want Flash monopoly (especially given their security record)? It is still up to site owners to decide which one you'll be running... |

How do you explain this: http://riastats.com/ See that Silverlight is still far from present on most Win computers. If everyone was blindly installing it, as you said, it would be around 90% or so.. This post was edited by gonzo on Saturday, February 14, 2009 at 07:42. |
