| Explain this to me... if (as) the "global economy (is) stalling out"... how are these corporate people affording to replace their Windows PCs with Apple's??? |

| I don't know if I buy any of that either. I suspect most companies are going to sit on their PC purchases for awhile. |

a great many businesses we work with waited to re-set hardware as a result of Vista's delay and even longer due to the veyr bad press it received. Many of them simply cannot wait any longer - they MUST replace equipment.
Also, things are very different now... IT/MIS isn't viewed in the same way it was even a couple of years ago - information as product is now far more important to people than it ever was and the integration of fused business/personal information products is viewed as a must have... like healthcare, eye care, dental care and primary transportation. Similarly, larger numbers of mergers and acquisitions are taking place now - consistent with other down-turns in the economy. Companies of all sizes are moving in together in a variety of ways. We are all blessed and grateful - and very supportive - slashing prices to help people, or carrying costs for them for extended periods... as the truth for people in our business is, that we can make more money upgrading, repairing systems and facilitating mergers and move ins than we can in peak times - if we're smart. I entirely understand how "new" systems - regardless of type or platform is a consideration. |

| #1--exactly. I see corporate interest in iPhones, but Mac desktops? No... and probably even less so now with the economic conditions. |

Companies are cutting expenses everywhere; computer sales are down so....
Windows 7 will be out between July and October, the public Beta shoud be out within a month; based on what I read about the new OS people will jump on it and skip Vista. Personally I will move to Windows 7 and ditch Vista as soon as possible. Do not get me wrong: after SP1 Vista is not too bad still it never won my heart and my mind. Happy Holidays everybody. I don't want to say this but... I'm going to agree with Latch (OMG the sky is falling LOL).
As businesses are laying off staff, cutting costs left right and center, reducing overheads as much and as quickly as possible... I just cannot understand how any of them can afford to spend MORE money buying LESS (in volume) PCs (aka Mac's). Why would a business spend nearly twice the money on a single desktop (or laptop), when they can buy two Windows PCs for the cost of one Mac. I am hearing from everywhere in the IT industry that businesses are NOT buying any new PCs. They are not buying any new hardware unless absolutely required - and that usually only extends to replacing completely failed product that is out of warranty. Bluvg, "down under" here, we're not seeing the same iPhone sales or interest. Aussie's always seem to follow America but in this particular situation, I guess Aussie's are less pretentious about glizty touch status symbols cough toys cough ;-) (hehe - I can say that the Aussies because I was born in New Zealand :-) Anywho... ~9:45pm Christmas eve here, so Merry Christmas to one and all!! | Most businesses that I deal with (all small) that have XP volume licenses reuse a dead XP box license on a new PC, or to pay for new guts on the same box. That alone saves money as the XP volume license originally cost $175 per box. |
