Xerox bans Windows XP beta after 'major network outages' | |

Xerox has warned all 50,000 employees in the US not to install the Windows XP beta on company computers. The printer giant sent round an email on Wednesday telling staff that Xerox had experienced "three major network outages since Friday, March 30, that are directly traceable to the installation of the Microsoft Windows XP Beta (Whistler) code on devices attached to the Xerox production network." The email informed employees that any installed versions of XP must be removed immediately, and that additional installations were banned "until further notice". | ||

Good ol' Register, spreading more FUD and lies. So, at the end, they finally reveal that it WAS NOT, in fact, XP, it was their hardware. And how, in the world, did simply installing XP on a box take down the network? It seems Register is up to its old lying tactics again. The Register's moto: "When there isn't news, we'll just make it up!" |

| Ha, I am running XP on a production system as a PDC, and have a mixed Win2k and XP beta2 Pro enviroment on a domain, all handled by the XP Server, just a few problems with IIS6 not being completed, and that's it. |

#8: It isn't, it's just because the Register wants to spread FUD. Also note how they provided no links or proof of any kind. Like I said, if there isn't news, just make it up! The ironic porition of this, if it is true, was that it was probably a bunch of Linux morons who had no clue and brought their network down. |
