Here's the difference... none of those "alternatives is there yet, and guess what... they are not likely to be any time soon..."
BUT, a much more secure option is available for Windows users right now and it has been for a good long while now. It's called Vista and by the way... x64 is ready for the vast majority of users. You cannot "wish" that away, and when you consider what is available "in the cloud" (Windows Live Photo Gallery, Live Writer, MESH, Live Photo Backup, etc...), you have to start to ask yourself who has all the pieces...? Software... and Services... hint it isn't Apple, or Google, or FOSS/OSS, it's Microsoft.
Now, understand that every bit of that is exposed to secure web services and reflect on what it means for developers, ISV's and enterprises.... I mean.... as long as we're talking about relevance... as you seem to suggest.
