Last week saw the public beta launch of Windows Search 4.0. While it brought several welcome improvements for consumers to the standard Windows Vista search, namely speed and better searching of remote computers, I can’t help get the feeling that the Vista search still (for want of a better word) sucks. | ||

| It sucks because of the UI. Every search I perform has to be an advanced search, I cannot find anything with Basic search. The UI isn't flexible and comprehensive enough to customize the search the way I could in XP, although it was real-time and non-indexed. Why can't Microsoft get a simple thing like that? |

Out of trivial interest, what types of searches are you doing that its not finding? By "advanced" do you mean the boolean searches?
Have you modified the defaults to include unc/drives/folders that you use on a daily basis? |
