With Microsoft Corp.'s aggressive strategy to build out its Software-as-a-Service capability to online storage—even as physical, hardware-based storage remains ubiquitous and competitive—some businesses may find it tempting to allow employees and workgroups to jump into Microsoft's SkyDrive for some limited purpose.

To be perfectly honest I would not consider "safe" any computer connected to the outside world. Even a not connected computer is not 100% safe: if someone could gain phisical access to the box and this person is good....
Anyway I agree that I would never put important and confidential information on a web drive or other similar solutions. Btw this is the main problem with web apps etc.: theorically they are interesting but between slow connections and security issues they will not replace, at least in mid-term, computer installed ones. |
