So basically what I get out of this and other diatribes is that if you are a technically skilled system integrator who is obsessive compulsive about performance and knows all the ins and outs of every low level system and registry tweak, Vista can be made to run well. However, if you are an average Joe, or a technically competent technology writer but who lacks the low level knowledge of the necessary bits to twiddle, and simply run Vista as it ships, then you are out of luck, and should have hired Libertech to build your system, because no one does it better than them, so they tell us.
