The announcement means that EMI, Universal, and Warner now offer their catalogues in DRM-free digital formats, making Sony BMG (of rootkit fame) the lone holdout among the majors. Amazon now claims to offer for than 2.9 million songs in MP3 format from over 33,000 unique labels. | ||

No one ever seems to mention it, but I assume that there is still a digital watermark encrypted in downloaded music files so the RIAA can track the origin of the initial material.
Anyone know about this? |

iTunes most definatley, yes.
Zune DRM Free, most definately, No - no ID information of any kind. Don't know about any of the others. |
