Empire Interactive plc, a leading AIM listed computer games developer and
publisher today announced it had signed the publishing rights to respected
industry developer Eutechnyx’ latest project, Big Mutha Truckers (“BMT”) for the
Sony PlayStation® 2 and the Xbox™ video game system from Microsoft.
Eutechnyx is the one of the world’s leading driving game development
specialists, having produced racing titles for global publishers including Eidos
Interactive, Electronic Arts and Infogrames and worked with such exclusive
brands as “Formula OneTM”, “James Bond 007TM” and “Le Mans 24 HoursTM.”
Eutechnyx is a registered Sony PlayStation 2 and Microsoft Xbox developer.
BMT sees the player take command of an 18-wheel rig, trucking from city to
city, wheeling and dealing and upping the stakes as they battle to build up a
personal fortune. Along the way players will run into the local biker gangs,
corrupt sheriffs and even their own redneck siblings, who are also out to amass
their own fortune – even if it’s at the player’s expense!
Empire recently reported its preliminary results for 2001, where it announced
it would release multiple titles on the next generation consoles and PC in the
second half of 2002. Yesterday, the Group announced that it had signed a 30 game
publishing deal with Activision for its highly successful Xplosiv range.
Ian Higgins, CEO of Empire said about the acquisition, “I’m delighted to have
signed BMT from Eutechnyx, who are one of the world’s leading driving game
specialists. Big Mutha Truckers is a unique concept and perfectly complements
our current line up. We are aiming for a Christmas launch in Europe this year.
Brian Jobling, MD of Eutechnyx added, “We’re very pleased to be working with
Empire Interactive on this unique and exciting game. Big Mutha Truckers provides
a driving game genre with something truly different and I firmly believe that it
will capture the hearts and imagination of driving game enthusiasts who are
looking for an original gaming experience.”
