#2, you are quite right to mention thermal issues - Apple ignores them and many other laws of physics - at the expense of their customer who tolerate replacing main board... er... "Logic" boards and other components with alarming regularity.
Articles like this, as well as the tests, are so very flawed. For example, on a Mac, much less of Windows Vista is actually used and loaded - for example, monitoring, power management and many other processes that are supported and run on a laptop/PC designed for Windows Vista, do not load, or run at all when loaded to a Mac - the Mac simply does not support them under Vista.
Also, the fastest systems out here are not built by large OEM's like Apple, HP and Dell - they are built by smaller professional builders delivering Desktop CPU's inside laptop's almost as thin as Apple's - real Core 2 Duo desktop CPU's and graphics. The simple math of the matter would reveal a slaughter - any one of our "mid-range" laptops would crush Apple - just as easily as they do Dell and HP.
