Report: Vista Business, XP Pro sales down in Europe | |

Market research firm Context has released statistics showing that the uptake of Windows Vista Business Edition is slowing in European countries. According to the report, Vista Business accounted for 17 percent of total unit PC sales in July, but that number fell to 13 percent in August. Context surveyed European IT vendors for their numbers. | ||

Most of Europe goes on vacation in August. Therefore more people are at home. Therefore, if people are buying computers, more will be for home.

| The major point here too is its Windows thats getting on those machines, not Linux. So, its a win-win either way if its XP or Vista. |

All the article is saying, between the lines, is that other verisons of Vista are moving. The numbers stated are percentage of sales, not a percentage loss or any other negative metric.

| The next best thing to Ultimate in the Vista SKU line up for consumers is Vista Home Premium. So again, looks normal to me. |

| #1, Most correct - en masse the EU is out for six, count em.. (6) full weeks beginning the end of July through the first week of September. About nothing takes place in business at all. The number and variety of caravans [small travel trailers] on the roadways is staggering - and getting stuck in a log-jam of traffic can be as much fun as the vaction - out come the tarps, umbrellas, card tables, and even grills. It's a "Stau" side festival in many parts of the EU - where stau is German for traffic jam. |
