I like Facebook, but my goodness, it has gotten annoying and bloated lately. It has dropped some of its cool factor and simplicity when it was once a University Student thing. Microsoft's willingness to invest it I believe will create some well needed opportunities for services like Windows Live Space, (please replace the Friends feature with something based on Facebook). But I agree with Ballmer, just like Skype for ebay, I honestly don't see how Facebook regardless its a hip Social Network platform of the today and future can be a profitable, viable business. Is You Tube making money for Google - I don't think so. The same could be said about News Corps purchase of My Space.
They will make something off ad revenue, buts nothing to match what MS sells (Windows, Office, Servers). |

| Got to say I hope MS stay the hell away from Facebook for so many reasons. The last thing we need is more "Windows Live" service sites. |

| #3: Windows Live is MS's latest fad name, like everything.net a few years back. These days all their web services are "Live". It gets old fast. MS commonly uses more words than needed for their products and services. Take Hotmail. This well established name became Windows Live Mail. Now its Windows Live Hotmail. That's so much better than plain old Hotmail. It just rolls off the tongue. Name change for the sake of change is silly. |
