Anti-Unix Web site on the fritz? | |

When it comes to Unix, Microsoft and Unisys are suddenly silent. The two companies launched a Web site earlier this week seeking to persuade customers to switch from the Unix operating system to Microsoft software. But as of midday Tuesday, the "We have the way out" site displayed either an all-white screen or an "Error 403" authorization message. Unisys declined to comment on the development. A Microsoft representative, who also pulled up a blank screen when trying to access the site, said the company would look into the matter. | ||

Has anyone actually seen advertisements for this website? If it's still in development then who cares? So they registered a domain name... and it doesn't point to anything. Ohwell.

Ceazar - I'll sleep better knowing that you are surfing the net making sure to point out the real facts to those who are just wasting time while drinking their coffee and spitting out a little debate.
Personally, I don't give a rats ass about the downtime. Its up now and I think that Ceazar's comment in relating to #5 & #10 was rather uneducated. If you (Ceazar) contracted a hosting firm to setup and maintain a server and it allowed this downtime, would you blame yourself or call and bitch at the hosting company. I think the later would be your immediate response especially if your boss was breathing down your back. And BTW if you read #6's comment he was making that statement while assuming a "Linux zealot's like thinking" which would imply he was using some sarcasm. #21 why don't you get yourself a username and quite chiming in like a freaking rat all the time. SodaBlue uses more facts then anybody else and I might also point out to that even though you are posessed of such a stunning intelect you seemed to miss that there is nothing in #20's post that can be seen as a "fact". Oh and by the way.. the site is back up...
http://www.wehavethewayout.com/ and its running Windows/IIS... I guess thats why I successfully got the site... no more *unix crap. You gotta love the fact that thousands of people who care about unix/windows are going to see that page tomorrow. MS should thank C|Net and the Linux sites for all the free publicity. |

The site didn't really change, the DNS pointer changed IP addresses to a new box. This apparently was miscoordinated and the new box wasn't completely configured correctly when this happened.
Ohwell. #23 - That's not entirely correct. I have other things to do and yesterday afternoon and last night I was out shopping for a new BMW. Also, in this particular thread there really is no argument that I could possibly lose. Caezar(and others) appears to be making random attacks against Microsoft, and the other individuals are simply pointing out a variety of rather benign circumstances that better explain this. I guess that's not surprising, as it's the frequent direction these discussions take. |
