Google To Acquire GrandCentral | |

Google is in acquisition discussions with telephone management startup GrandCentral, we’ve learned, and we have a high degree of confidence that the deal has actually been closed. We are trying to nail down the acquisition price. The basic idea around GrandCentral is “one phone number for all your phones, for life.” As we change jobs, homes and cell phones, there are a lot of phone numbers to keep track of, and keeping everyone up to date with your most recent phone numbers is a real cost. If you use GrandCentral you can give out a single phone number. What happens when that person calls that number depends on his/her relationship to you, and what you are doing at the time. | ||

#2: Heh, 'The Monster'? Are you guys so tired of seeing MS get slammed for their bad deeds that you have to invent something so that you can also get in on the action? Has Google shafted partners, suppliers and customers alike, on a regular basis, for many years? Have they somehow illegally abused some monopoly to stifle innovation? Are they forever shouting about how much they innovate, when all anyone can see is them buying companies or just stealing their technology? Are they startling hypocrites that talk the talk about choice & interoperability, while trying to impair both? Or maybe it's because they, along with MS and Cisco, help other countries like China to censor information?
Amazing how you can't see (or at least refuse to acknowledge) the harm MS causes, while crying about boogeymen like Google. You'd give Darth Vader a pass on all the murders while complaining about Han for speeding. |

Use the force, Latch. I just read about GrandCentral the other day--no mention of being in talks. It seems that the new, old tech bubble is to hope to be bought out by Microsoft or Google instead of having an IPO. |
