There is a new Windows Vista WHQL driver release available to download from NVIDIA, v158.24. This is a new driver which will support GeForce 6, 7 and 8 series graphics boards; it does not support GeForce Go mobile GPUs. Please continue to check with your notebook manufacturer for a new driver for GeForce Go GPUs. GeForce FX users should continue to use the v96.85 driver. Key Bug Fixes

ARGH! Wth NVidia, your drivers suck.
158.18 was worthless. It didn't work at all with LCD/DVI monitors. This new one still doesn't. I try enabling SLI and both monitors go blank and now I'm screwed, I have to safe mode uninstall these things. MSFT contacted NVidia very early on in Vista development with Aero. It's not like NVidia didn't have time to prepare for Vista. WHAT THE HECK NVIDIA! |

I don't have SLI, but I don't have any problem with my DVI connection at all.
And these are infinately better than the 90 series. |

| I have an 8800gtx and are running these drivers without a problem under Vista. Did some CAD stuff and some gaming and they seem a lot better then the last versions of the drivers. |

The new driver eliminates the screen flickering sometimes seen when refreshing dual monitors using dual DVI connections for 7 and 8 series cards. We have not tested older 6 series cards with the new driver. The new 85xx series cards, supporting DX10 in the mid and lower ranges of the market, have performed well with the new driver. Complete/manual removal of all old drivers and control software is recommended before installing the new driver - ignoring/cancelling any OS related prompts to install default WDDM drivers upon reboot.
Similarly, it is recommended that any extended [2nd 3rd] displays be disabled before removing/installing the drivers. It is also recommended that both chipset and main board drivers/firmware be upgraded for any system used to support SLI. Finally, do find and use panel/display hardware drivers/.ini files where they are available, but only if they are Vista certified [where applicable]. A few extra steps in these areas is well worth the results. |
