To next to no one's surprise, Microsoft is going to christen Longhorn Server "Windows Server 2008." And it might do so as early as next week to coincide with the Windows Hardware Engineering Conference (WinHEC) in Los Angeles. Microsoft posted the new name on its Windows Hardware Engineering Conference (WinHec) 2007 press site. | ||

And in other news, Ford announced that the new Mustang will be christened the 2008 Ford Mustang!!! I can't believe people hover over their computer screens thinking 'what are they gonna call it? what are they gonna call it?' So f'ing what??? 'next to no one's surprise' is right - why is this news? |

Oh my goodness!! This is the most exciting news flash since the name of Windows 2003 was revealed! I was holding my breath, anxiously awaiting this announcement all day! All year, even!

I for one am thankful to see the official* naming as "Windows Server 2008". I was afraid that the Office influence would have spread and we would have seen "2008 Windows Server system"...
