All, we hate the annoying ads as much as you do. However, sometimes the ad companies ignore our policies and let one through. To all of our delight, I finally found out where the "Free iPhone" (and other) ads was coming from, and removed all fo them. Thank you.

What about the iPOD Nanos? Can you get rid of that one, or is it not restricted by your annoyance policy.
You are fortunate there is such compelling content on this site of your readership might decline.

whoa, does that mean I dont get my free iphones? I've been clicking on that ad every single time I suffer through the embarrassment of having my GOOD FORTUNE screamed over my speakers.
If I can't have my free iphones (I think I won about four dozen of them), can I at least get a few bucks to compensate me for the job I lost because my boss knew I wasn't typing anything legit, but instead I was on some luddite site where audio ads are allowed?
Seriously, thanks Bob.

Crap, I spoke too soon. Now, I'm hearing the fish say "help me". Better, but still...

Son of a...
Everytime I submit a comment, I get a different sound effect. This time it was the free apple nano.
C'mon Bob. Rip out that ad.
RIP IT OUT!

Nano and Fish ads should be gone now. Seriously, there were 10 nano ads coming through on a list of a few hundred.

#7, Thanks, for trying, Bob, but the Nano lady just paid me another visit. She seems nice and all, but her ability to repeat herself is only exceeded by her ability to say the same thing more than once...

#9, Well, I have to give it to the gal, she is at least, persistent...
I wrote too soon. As soon as I posted #10, above and clicked on the logo upper left, she came back... offering a free Xbox 360.
At least she's offering something I would want :)

If you are getting a bunch of ads and popups you should really take control of your browsing experience. Why leave it up to the site to govern what you see and don't see. I come here all the time and I see hardly any visual on page ads let alone ones that have sound. I am currently using Maxthon over IE7 with all the adblocking turned on and it works great. I have also tried Firefox with its stuff on and it does the job too.

#12, True, kaikara, but I can't. I have to use what I ship and my customers use. I used to do as you recommend and a lot more, but I got so far away from what my customers were actually doing, I couldn't maintain the right perspective - so I have to stay close to where they are and in builds that I can consistently replicate and control. Keeping that perspective became more important than my own personal experiences. Thanks for the sound advice though.

Really guys, thanks for working on this. I really do appreciate it.
First you got rid of the Pop-ups (you guys were pushing new envelopes with those things LOL), and now you're working on this.
Good job.
I know you have to have Ad's. Just keep them static, silent and out of the way and I for one will be happy :)

BTW... One of my favorite pages for tech info is HardOCP.com.
Kyle Bennett is one of those guys I probably couldn't stay in a room with for more than 5 minutes at a time, but he does have one hell of a website and he has the Ad/Content thing figured out nicely.
