Computer makers are still intimidated by Microsoft Corp. , and the Justice Department's proposed antitrust settlement would do little to change that, two computer industry executives told a federal judge on Thursday. A former executive at Gateway Inc. and another from Red Hat Inc. testified that computer makers are still fearful of offering an alternative to Microsoft's Windows operating system, and that Microsoft still dictates how they configure the machines they sell. | ||

Because consumers won't buy it. Now exactly how is this Microsoft's fault? |

#5 - Let me rip your article apart sentence by sentence.
"Where does it day in the article that consumers won't buy it?" That was my comment. If it had said that in the article I would have put quotation marks around it. "The only way to know that is to put it out." All of these products have been out for quite some time now. "People shop based on value, if a pc running something other than Windows is priced lower, people will buy it." That's like saying people will buy bicycles because they are cheaper than automobiles. "It's human nature." It's human nature to expect a product to work well. "The more people buy it, the more competition it creates and the better a product becomes." But if people don't want to buy your product, then why do you wish to resort to government intervention? "Everybody wins." Sure, so why is Redhat so afraid of fair competition? "I myself would be interested in some dual-boot systems anyway because I like choices and options. " Why aren't you doing it now? It's been possible for the last 10 years. "Don't fear competition, it's your friend. " Don't fear the consumer, they are your friend. |

#7 - If what you said was true, Redhat would be supporting the DOJ settlement.
Instead they are demanding the government cripple Microsoft so that Redhat has some sort of advantage. That's not fair competition. |
