What ... no mention of the 8 own your box Quicktime security holes? How come you skip that important news story? "Apple on Monday released updates to its QuickTime media player software to repair eight serious security vulnerabilities. The vulnerabilities expose both Macs and Windows PCs to cyberattack, Apple said in a security alert. In all cases, an attacker could craft a malicious file which, when opened with QuickTime, could give the miscreant full control over a computer running the software, Apple said. " |

| Perhaps because I had specifically checked Apple's website for an iTunes update and found that Apple had indeed updated iTunes. |

But as usual for Apple, they don't really say what was fixed...
"iTunes 7.1 addresses a number of compatibility issues with Windows Vista." "QuickTime 7.1.5 delivers numerous bug fixes and addresses critical security issues. They didn't fix all the Vista problems. I guess they were too busy tracking down quicktime holes:
"Apple admitted that while iTunes 7.1 address some of the previous release's Vista compatibility issues, the new version still isn't fully Vista friendly. Apple lists some minor problems - some text and graphics not rendering correctly, and Windows Address Book entries not syncing with connected ipods - but crucially the major issue of iPod data corruption has not been fixed in iTunes 7.1." http://www.reghardware.co.uk/2007/03/06/apple_updates_itunes/ |
