#6, Oh my... I nearly "snorked" my coffee - funny.
At dinner, we were discussing kids, school, and the like - one of my daughters earned an academic scholarship [she worked her tail off] and one of the guests asked, "in which sport?"
Now, how in the world could one respond? I answered simply, "Math." - bad enough? No, it get's worse. Another offered, "that's not a sport." I let my wife handle the explanation to our guests and I retreated to the kitchen.
The absolute best of all time... *in line at the drug store... two women were overheard... - one said, "I need to hury home with the toothpaste, as we have not been able to brush our teeth. "all we had was that PM toothpaste this morning." Her companion, laughing, stated, "that toothpaste doesn't know what time of day it is..."
On the good news side of things, I have seen other young people really come on and reach their full potential after a few years with us. They work hard and have picked up on solid business communications skills. For the young people out there that read Activewin, please take this to heart and if your schools or parents can't help, then reach out to business people - many of them would be delighted to help and they might even provide employment and opportunities as they extend themselves in this way. I know I have always been so impressed with such displays of initiative that I have hired many people on the spot and helped them build careers.
