| I consider System Mechanic one of the best, if not the best, utility for XP; the same does not apply to Diskeeper 7.0 from Executive Software, which has a compatibility problem with XP when you try to remove it. Instructions for Diskeeper removal apply to other Windows versions but not XP. Keep away from Diskeeper. |

I wanted to use Diskeeper, but their marketing shenanigans prevent me from doing so.
The normal version of Diskeeper will not install under Windows 2000 Server. They want you to buy their 'Enterprise Priced' version for Win2K Server. Unfortunately, like many in the Tech Industry, I run Win2K Server not because I'm a rich Corporate Entity, but because I need it for training and keeping up with technology, and thus cannot afford this 'Enterprise Priced' version. Executive isn't the only company that does this. It really makes me angry when the low-priced version is disabled from installing due to 'pricing' issues, not technical issues. TL |

Their Server Version is over $100 less than Diskeeper. ($219 web download, $249 CD KIT) Workstation version is $44 download, $49 shipped CD KIT) They have a trial version available on their site. http://www.raxco.com For those with 15 or more workstations, they have a Diskeeper Trade-in program http://www.raxco.com/products/PerfectDisk2k/tradein.cfm |
