As soon as it became known that Microsoft was preparing its own portable media device and service, the phrase "iPod Killer" was attached to it. Whatever Microsoft's intentions, it was going toe-to-toe with a well-established product that absolutely dominates the portable media category. | ||

Well...I'll be... a great, and balanced review of strengths and "must haves" and suggestions for what MS might do to make the Zune all it has the potential to be.
Great find, Chris! Now... I wonder... how many people will re-visit the Zune and more balanced reviews - I fear, not many and this suggests that a big part of the problem with tech journalism - namely the lack of it... rests with ourselves. We have to continually assess things that matter to us, and communciate clearly, that which we want - if we expect manufactirers to ever be able to build what we want. |

Sometimes I don't understand Microsoft!
They had a f.ucking eternity to analyze the Ipod, it didn't just fall off of the truck Granted the Zune isn't a bad competitor but they could have done much better than this rush job. In order to compete with the Ipod you have to make a better product and price it competitively. The Zune will be a great product in version 2 or 3. I currently have the creative Vision:M and I not surprised that the Zune will surpass them. Creative are a bunch idiots. 1 . They are selling a video player but you cannot make a video playlist..brilliant 2. For the love of god whydo I need a special "dongle" to connect to my PC. Everything should be USB I can't wait for version 2 or 3 of Zune...I am so there with my money sorry for the rant..... |

If Apple ever add's a subscription service to iTunes (as I wish it will), that's gonna set the Zune back another chunk.
Right now, that's the only thing I see missing in iTunes. Add an FM tuner, itunes subscription, maybe wireles... Bye bye Zune :) TL |
