Microsoft Corp. and Germany's Deutsche Telekom announced Wednesday they have formed a partnership to offer business customers access to their e-mail, scheduling information and other company data through mobile phones or handheld computers. Deutsche Telekom will adopt the U.S. giant's Microsoft.NET software platform to offer data that could be updated constantly on the devices, the two companies said. The two firms will also collaborate on operating systems for mobile devices, with Deutsche Telekom using Microsoft's Smartphone and Pocket PC software to offer service on phones built by handset providers. The software lets the phones double as personal digital assistants, blurring the line between the two classes of device. | ||

Hmm, I wonder how this will work. Voicestream(DT's American brand) has had a deal with AOL. They've been offering access to AIM through their phones.
I suppose if they go down this .Net path, they would be linking up with Messenger... Hmm, interesting. I have voicestream service, so I find this interesting. |

Voicestream is currently a partner for MS' Smartphone 2002. Since .NET Messenger is part of the platform, thy'll probably offer the MS phone to customers interested in its benefits, and offer Nokias or some other brand for those wanting AOL services.
I also have Voicestream (Powertel) and would love to have a Smartphone 2002. The only thing I hate is the per megabyte data charge. This post was edited by n4cer on Wednesday, March 13, 2002 at 12:47. |
