It seems that Yahoo has accidently released the Internet Explorer 7 Gold release a few hours earlier than they should have done. This release was digitally signed on October 17th - Enjoy. If you want to wait a few hours before downloading the MS version which doesn't come with Yahoo Mail toolbar feel free. For those who like the extra details, the build number is 7.0.5730.11

Sweet! I wonder if MS will release a Windows Live branded IE 7.0 with Windows Live Toolbar... :-p

This was no "accidental" release. Yahoo followed the old saying "its easier to ask forgiveness than to ask permission".

#5, Agreed - they wanted to seed as many people as they could with their "optimized" version of IE 7.
Did you check out the UrlMon.DLL file they included....? Lovely, huh?
More than 1.24 MB of added/compressed shovel and track-ware.
***Byron is to be greatly thanked for steering Active_winners to extract the IE 7 only setup file via WinRAR***

The Yahoo! page says that it supports XPx64 but I downloaded it and it wouldn't install. Pretty lame, M$ needs to hurry up and get it out.

#7, Yes, but this one was outside the installer from Microsoft and used to make calls for other implemenations that were also outside of IE's base install - to where, we do not know yet.
We reasoned Yahoo was using it to shape RPC calls from their client to remote hosts - for their purposes. Thanks for the added information.
We excluded them and used the main installer only.

I installed the IE Yahoo version just now.
It makes the home page Yahoo.com
It adds the Yahoo Toolbar
I changed the home page, and went to Add/Remove programs and removed the Yahoo Toolbar. All is good.

Microsoft's IE site (link above) has been updated now. All references to RC1 have been removed and the download link appears to go to the final code. So, all is official now, it appears.
