This one is just silly... all they are doing is requiring a better accounting of OL Lic. usage.
It is quite easy to comply - if one is honest and has their "stuff" together. Many of our customers, for example, also request we manage software licenses for them - their inventory and compliance. We have floor safes full of the stuff because as one customer put it, "You know.. if we don't do this... it [the software], will grow legs and wonder off..." This is a good thing, in my opinion and doing it right is not at all difficult - cleaning up the mess is a bear, howerver. |

| This will be annoying, and counter productive, if everytime one substantially upgrades the hardware in a Vista loaded PC reactivation will be required. The current volume license costs MORE than OEM licenses do. If Vista has no value added for the $30 cost premium per box,and one has to call and read 54 numebrs and wait for someone to read back 54 more numbers to reactivate, watch this currently good Volume License program evaporate over the years, resulting in LESS income for MS. |

| AFAIR, Enterprises would use their own activation server, similar to how they use their own update servers with SUS, etc. |
