  New Intel Graphics Drivers 6.6 for i810/i815 Available

Intel has just released new drivers 6.6 for its i810/i815 graphics controllers. Those new drivers fix several issues, especially the following ones that occur with Windows 2000 and Windows XP:

  • Nothing is displayed during AVI playback in preview if Web Content is enabled.
  • DVD movies do not display correctly when downscaled (flip problem).
  • Occasionally, an access violation error occurs when resizing a software DVD video window.
  • MPEG playback corrupted when Windows Media Player is reduced or when MPEG is shown in Web Content preview panel.
  • Blue screen when switching display type (CRT/TV/Flat Panel) when running DirectX Video Acceleration enabled DVD player.
  • Microsoft* Office XP office assistant "Merlin" crashes after standby.
  • Hkcmd.exe or hccutils.dll error appears at bootup when Symantec* PCAnywhere* is installed. Blue screen errors occur when trying to change video settings.
  • Corruption appears on desktop after switching to CRT when DVD is running
  • Madden Football 2001: has incorrect textures in the stands.
  • NASCAR 4 game: game load fails on Windows 98 and Me and reboots system using Windows 2000.
  • 3DMark2001: the system reboots when attempting to run the benchmark.
  • Barrage game: an error message is shown during start up and the game goes to desktop.
  • Table Fog emulation not properly supported.
  • Trouble with multi-texturing and enabling object linear texgen
  • Labyrinth Ball Direct3D application is not rendering reflective surface correctly.
  • Microsoft Plus! for Windows XP screensavers will not install.
  • Corruption on second menu in Descent 3 game.

For anyone interested, the release notes are here, which includes tables of the fixes per your OS. The fixes listed above are mostly inaccurate, since some were corrected in much earlier versions of the driver. Additionally, some things that were fixed in this version are not listed above.
