Microsoft executives love telling stories against each other. Here's one that platforms vice-president Jim Allchin told at a recent Windows Vista reviewers conference about chief executive Steve Ballmer. It seems Steve was at a friend's wedding reception when the bride's father complained that his PC had slowed to a crawl and would Steve mind taking a look. Allchin says Ballmer, the world's 13th wealthiest man with a fortune of about $18 billion, spent almost two days trying to rid the PC of worms, viruses, spyware, malware and severe fragmentation without success. | ||

| That PC probably had Symantec products on it. That is funny though, there isn't a PC made that I can't fix and I'm dirt poor. |

I had a machine yesterday with a mutated version SpySheriff on it, and the only thing that WOULD remove it was SAV 10. Everything else, including specialized utilities for the huge pain in the ass malware failed.

Now this is one scary statement. No wonder the drive-by install problem isn't fixed.
"This really opened our eyes to what goes on in the real world," Allchin told the audience." And, btw, it's not fixed in IE7 so far either. I know this because I have it running in a test VPC container and while browsing the other day as soon as I went to a site download.trojan was installed on the Virtual Machine. No notice, no warning, no indication whatsoever. If SAV had not of caught it I would have never known it happened. TL |

| NOD32 is the only antivirus I have used that catches everything I throw at it. I'll never touch Symantec products until they take SAV and put it on a shelf in a store in a box for $30.00. NAV, NIS, NSW, they are all garbage. |
