Is Microsoft beefing up its Xbox video game console to create a whole new device with multimedia abilities like TV recording, video-on-demand and digital music? To hear the software giant tell it, no. But recent moves by the company have fueled talk about the rumored device, dubbed "HomeStation," or at least hinted at Microsoft's designs on the living room. "This reared its head several weeks ago. The odd thing is there is no thing called the HomeStation product or initiative," a Microsoft spokeswoman said when asked about the mystery product. | ||

| Why don't these so-called analysts get that a so-called Homestation would instantly negate the investment in the sinkhole of the Xbox (I would guess they've spent about 10 Billion if not much more) before traction occurs? ...And at the same time, understand that it won't attract a substantially different audience then the XBox; after all, if you're not a gamer, then you'd just have an IA/crippled PC w/ game controllers under the TV--which hasn't been a very interesting market to date. |
