ActiveWin.com is removing pop-ups on all news and comment pages as of May 1st for a one month test. If the test proves successful, and cost effective, the pop-ups will remain off. You can already enjoy Active Network Forums Pop-Up free. Comments, of course, are always welcome.

This is great, especially as in the course of trying to reply to this news I have one popup escaping the clutches of IE's pop-up blocker and 2 others that have been caught :(

Thanks for this action.
Only pop-ups will be banned for one month. Four or five scattered ads similar to "YOU HAVE WON! whatever" with bouncing graphics may be worse than pop-ups. Please don't use rollover or fold up ads.
I hope the site keeps the new replacement ads clean and non-distracting so we can focus on content and ActiveWin can make some cash.

WooHoo!
Hopefully the readership will return to pre-popup-hell levels :)
Good job guys.

Thank you thank you thank you! When you work on slow, old machines, pop-ups really wear on your nerves.

I use Maxthon over IE 7 Beta 2 and get zero popups and hardly any ads on this site. So doesn't matter if you turn them off or not since i am not getting them now.

Thank you. I had been looking for other sites that are as useful but don't have the annoying popups.

Hmmm... so let me see... pop-up upon clicking on a Comment link from the main page... not exactly "removed", is it?

I'm using IE 7 beta 2 with no popups here since I started with the preview version. It's still a good idea...there is a special place in hell for the invertor of the pop-up ad.

Still getting popups here.
Maybe they infected the AW servers with Spyware :)

no popups before.....no pop ups now. Maxthon with IE7 beta 2.
People should take control of their own browsing experience instead of whining about pop ups. Activewin could have 100 popups per page and it wouldn't matter to me.

Pop-ups? You use pop-ups? Hmmm... Maybe for people using defective browsers or insecure systems, but no pop-ups here.
