Alone in the Dark first appeared on PC in 1992, and fourteen years later it is returning, complete with an original gameplay structure, said to make the game appeal to a much wider audience. Atari hopes the game will go beyond expectations for a next-generation title and that it will re-establish itself as the genre leader. It certainly won't be easy, with the survival horror genre now packed with quality franchises such as Resident Evil and Project Zero.
"Alone in the Dark is returning to the format that launched survival gaming - the PC - and after nearly a decade and a half of ever-accelerating technological progress, the title will again take the lead on next generation console with the Xbox 360, and on PC," said Cyril Voiron, Marketing Director, Atari Europe. "This is one for gamers to keep an eye on in the coming months as Atari and Eden begin to reveal the details about how we will fulfil these promises."
