Microsoft's Browser Continues To Beat Old and New Rivals | |

The so-called browser war of the late 1990s is long over. Feisty little Netscape Communications, which pioneered Web browsing software, was crushed by giant Microsoft , which came late to the battle but won in the end. A federal court has ruled that Microsoft's success against Netscape was achieved in part by a pattern of brutal business tactics that violated antitrust laws. But something else also contributed to the Microsoft victory: Over time, Microsoft made its browser better than Netscape's -- easier to use, faster and more compatible with different types of Web sites. | ||

| I used to use navigator all the time when I first got my PC (When Internet Explorer was first released) as there wasn't really anything else to try, since Internet Explorer 3 Microsoft has in my view just improved so much with the browser while netscape seemed to sit back too much and not add/improve as well as they could/should have done. |

| About #2, It's actually the other way around. Every person who is unbiased now uses IE because it's far superior in EVERY way to Netscape *.*, Mozilla, and Opera which are the only real contenders out there. The only people out there that use Netscape on Windows are the ones that have some ignorant grudge against Microsoft and think that by martyring themselves they can make a point or something. Netscape 6 really blows, just like all the other Netscapes. |
