Microsoft has joined the INCITS/V1 Technical Committee, which plays a key role in the ratifying the OpenDocument format as an international standard, according to Ingrid Marson's report on ZDNet. Groklaw's Pamela Jones speculated that Microsoft's intentions may not be pure–the wolf in the hen house–and the company would like to sabotage ODF ratification and promote its own format, Open XML File Format. | ||

| Gee, do you think? MS was part of the group that created ODF, but then they said they would never support it. Now they join the group that will ratify ODF. It doesn't take a genius like Parkkker to figure out what their motive is. I just hop eth eother members can slap them down when MS starts with their obstructionist nonsense. |

I forgot. Everytime I point out that the so-called "open" alternatives to Office are patented by Sun and Adobe, you stick your fingers in your ears and start humming. |

| #5: I'm not sure why you keep pointing that out, since it's relevant to nothing. If I created a technology that I was going to donate to the world, I would still patent it so that some scumbag company wouldn't come around and patent it after the fact. First to file, not first to invent, don'tcha know. The fact is, MSXML has specially crafted strings attached that make it impossible for any GPL software to use their (cough) open standard. Neither PDF nor ODF have those strings -- only MS. But you already know this as I've told you before. See, MS doesn't pass the smell test. The world sees PDF and ODF as true open standards. They do not see MSXML and it's sneaky games as equivalents, no matter how much MS screams otherwise and no matter how many committees MS joins and subverts. |

#6: If that's the case, as you say, then why can GPL apps interact with PDF and ODF without any license problems? Why is that, Parkker? Pleas eprovide details to your claim.

#8: Here's a novel idea -- instead of insulting me, why not answer my question? If I'm so dumb, then please educate me (with links of course, not just your opinion). Or is it that you're full of sh!t and have no real answer (again)?
I may be dumb as a sack of hammers, but I can smell BS like yours a mile away. If you're an MS employee or agent astroturfing, then I could understand your rabid MS love. If you're doing it for free, you're the dumb one. |
